Volunteer school board members serve thousands of hours each year working to ensure every Iowa student receives a solid education. School Board Recognition Week, May 10-16, 2009, is an opportunity to say thanks to the more than 2,000 men and women who govern Iowa's public education system. This year's theme, "Making Strides in Public Education," recognizes that school board members are community leaders working to lead students to higher levels of achievement.
